You’re Wrong & I’m Not Sorry.
TOTAL READ TIME: About 5 Minutes
I truly believe most people don’t actually believe 1/2 the things they sat they do. I don’t believe they would actually stand for the things they SAY they stand for.
In my opinion these people are more problematic and detrimental than those who inflict the actual pain. The people in the middle who don’t say anything are my biggest enemies of all and I think it’s I feel so passionately about this because I used to be one of them.
But why would people fight so loudly, so proudly, so idiotically over things they don’t actually believe is true? Well based off my own experience… I have several theories.
1.) Even though they know what they believe is some BS so many other people believe it that they feel it MUST be true. There is no way they could be intelligent enough to figure something out that the whole world doesn’t know right?
But it’s not that big of a world now is it? Is it absolute fact that Christianity is the superior and true religion or is that just due to region, time and the family you were born into? What if you were born somewhere else? What would you believe then? Would you be right or wrong?
2.) People don’t LIKE to be wrong. There’s proof of police brutality, there is evidence of climate change, there are countless examples of people saying “me too” but if YOU are the type of person who has been honoring and is still holding onto your great great grandfathers beliefs and his cattle farm in 2021- So I can see how facing all that may be a little challenging.
We have to be wrong though! We have to be okay with being wrong about so many things so we can let go and grab onto truth. “We’ll I’m not racist because…” just doesn’t cut it for me anymore. If you live in America (and maybe even if you don’t) you have been subjected to and systematically conditioned over decades and generations to be a fucking racist. The system requires it to function. There’s no other way around that. In fact the only way through it is acceptance and actionable change leading in the direction of justice for all. Is that such a scary thing?
3.) People don’t want to think about the ramifications of being wrong. They would rather lie to everyone and themselves for the last decade of their life instead of owning up to their shit. Why? They haven’t the time. Why spend their remaining days realizing and repenting when they can spend it on their sailboat?
I’m cool being wrong. I was born into a life of wrongness. I was born with the “wrong” color skin. I was born with “inferior” genitalia. I was born into a family of settlers on the land of an overthrown nation stolen from indigenous people. I was born gay which we all know is SO wrong. The white men running these billion dollar corporations are murdering trillions of animals and natural habitats across the globe simultaneously in real time but as long as they walk into the house of God and confess on Sunday they get rewarded with a joyful and lavish eternal life in the sky until the end forever. Me holding hands with my girlfriend and walking around without a bra as we do a community park clean up advocating native rights & sovereignty though? Sorry you’re outta heaven. Burn in eternal flame forever heathens!
Anyway… these are just some of my observations as to why people are willing to stare at evidence and walk over it. My butt is uncomfortable. I’m writing this one on the toilet. Guess I just needed a place to process out all the BS. It’s time to go out into the world now and walk around with some zombies.
Be safe, be considerate and be yourself.
